Opening Tip
• Indiana University hits the road for the second time this week against No. 2/2 Purdue as the program continues its 124th season of competition in men’s basketball at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, Feb. 10, on FOX.
• The second-ranked Boilers (21-2, 10-2) are one of two teams (UConn) to receive first place votes in both the Associated Press and Coaches Polls in each of the last two weeks.
• Reigning National Player of Year Zach Edey averages team highs in points (23.1 per game), rebounds (11.7), and blocks (2.3). He has posted 16 double-doubles.
• Sophomore guard Braden Smith averages 12.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game on 42.1% (32-of-76) shooting from the 3-point line.
• As a team, Purdue shoots 40.1% (198-of-494) from behind the 3-point line, the highest clip in the Big Ten. The 198 makes (8.6 per game) rank second in the conference.

Series History
• For the 219th time in program history, Indiana will take on archrival Purdue. The Boilermakers hold a 126-92 advantage in the series. No team has appeared on IU’s schedule more often than Purdue. Head coach Mike Woodson holds a record of 3-2 against the Boilers.
• The last time the two programs met in West Lafayette, first-round draft pick Jalen Hood-Schifino led IU to a 79-71 victory on Feb. 25, 2023. The current Los Angeles Lakers guard posted 35 points, the second-most by an IU freshman in program history, to go along with seven rebounds and two assists.
• Purdue has not lost in Mackey Arena since the loss to Indiana. Since the start of the start of the 202-21 season, the Boilers are 52-4 in front of the home crowd.
Last Time Out
• With 17:39 on the game clock, Indiana trailed Ohio State by a score of 49-31. Over the final 17-plus minutes, the Hoosiers outscored the Buckeyes 45-24 to win by a final tally of 76-73 on Feb. 6. The comeback effort was the largest since Nov. 14, 1998, against Indiana State when the Hoosiers trailed by 19 points.
• Sophomore forward Malik Reneau tallied game highs in both points (26) and rebounds (14) for his second-career double-double.
• Senior guard Trey Galloway scored 19 of his 25 points and dished out all four of his assists in the second half. His point total marked the highest of his career against a Big Ten opponent and his personal best in a game played away from Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
• Senior guard Anthony Leal scored the game’s final five points, including the go-ahead 3-point field goal with 22 seconds left. He pushed Indiana’s lead to the final count of 76-73 with a pair of free throws with 2 seconds on the clock.
Follow the Gallo-Way
• Senior guard Trey Galloway is one of four players in the Big Ten to average at least 10.0 points, 3.5 assists, and 1.0 steal per game while committing less than 2.0 turnovers per outing. He joins A.J. Hoggard (Michigan State), Bruce Thornton (Ohio State), and Tony Perkins (Iowa) on the exclusive list.
• Galloway has dished out 59 total assists (4.9 per game) in his last 12 outings dating back to Dec. 21, 2023, to go against just 23 turnovers (2.57 assist-to-turnover ratio). For his career, the Hoosiers are 13-3 in the 16 games ‘Gallo’ has handed out at least five dimes.
• He is averaging a career-best 11.1 points per game, including a career-high 28 points against No. 2/2 Kansas (Dec. 16). He converted 12-of-17 shots in the contest. He scored a Big Ten career-high 25 points (19 in the second half) at Ohio State (Feb. 6) while leading IU to an 18-point comeback victory.
The Leal Deal
• Senior guard Anthony Leal provided his best game as a Hoosier in Indiana’s 74-68 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes on Jan. 30 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. He set or matched career highs in points (13), rebounds (7), blocks (1), made field goals (4), made 3-pointers (3), and made free throws (2).
• Leal stole the spotlight at Ohio State on Feb. 6 when he scored the final five points of the game in IU’s 76-73 victory. He drilled a baseline triple with 22 seconds to give the Hoosiers a one-point lead before knocking down two game-sealing free throws with 2 seconds left.
• Over the last four games, he has played 19.5 minutes per night and averaged 5.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.3 assists.
Sophomore Jump for Reneau
• Sophomore forward Malik Reneau has posted double digits in the scoring column in 20 games this season, including 14 efforts of at least 15 points and six 20-point nights. He notched a career-high 34 points against Kennesaw State (Dec. 29) and a Big Ten career-high of 28 points at No. 11/8 Wisconsin (Jan. 19).
• Reneau is averaging a team-best 16.4 points per game to go along with 6.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 29 minutes per game. He is shooting 57.8% (149-of-258) from the floor, 37.1% (13-of-35) from the 3-point line, and 63.8% (67-of-105) from the free throw line.
• The Miami native has posted double figure scoring outputs in all 10 games played away from Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall this season. He is also averaging 17.6 points per game in Indiana’s four matchups with ranked opponents.
Dealt a Shorthand
• The Hoosiers have started four different lineups in 23 games this season. The original starting rotation of sixth-year senior guard Xavier Johnson, senior guard Trey Galloway, freshman forward Mackenzie Mgbako, sophomore forward Malik Reneau, and sophomore center Kel’el Ware have started just four games together since the start of December. The Hoosiers are 7-3 in games started by this group.
• In total eight players have started a game for Indiana, including five players that are new to the Cream and Crimson.
Galloway, Reneau Erase 18-Point Lead at OSU
• Senior guard Trey Galloway scored a Big Ten career-high 25 points and six rebounds in IU’s come-from-behind victory at Ohio State on Feb. 6. Gallo posted 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting and four assists in the second half. His final assist came on a drive-and-kick to a wide-open, corner 3-pointer from senior guard Anthony Leal with 22 seconds remaining to give Indiana the 74-73 lead.
• Leal scored the final five Hoosier points, including a pair of free throws with 2 seconds to play to seal the 76-73 road victory.
• Sophomore forward Malik Reneau charted his second-career double-double with a game-high 26 points and a career-high 14 rebounds. The game marked his sixth 20-point effort of the season.
Ware Posts Double-Double Against Penn State
• Sophomore center Kel’el Ware posted a 25-point, 11-rebound double-double in Indiana’s 85-71 loss to Penn State on Feb. 3 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.
• The Nittany Lions shot 12-of-22 from the 3-point line and carried an 18-3 advantage in bench scoring.
