EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Men’s Soccer resumes its normal fall schedule when it kicks off the 2021 season September 2 at Strassweg Field versus Cedarville University. The USI-Cedarville match also is the start of a four-match homestand to begin the 2021 campaign.
The Screaming Eagles follow up their season opener September 5 when they host Oakland City University for USI’s annual “Gold Game” to bring awareness to pediatric cancers. The second half of the homestand includes a region match with Davenport University September 10 and the 2021 Great Lakes Valley Conference opener versus McKendree University September 12.
In addition to the season opening homestand, the 2021 USI home schedule includes the University of Illinois Springfield (September 24), Lewis University (September 26), Rockhurst University (October 8), William Jewell College (October 10), defending GLVC champion Maryville University (October 22), and Missouri University of Science & Technology (October 24). The USI-Missouri S&T match is Senior Day for the Eagles.
The 2021 road slate begins with the University of Indianapolis, the GLVC Tournament finalist last spring, on September 17. USI also travels to Truman State University (October 1), Quincy University (October 3), Drury University (October 15), Southwest Baptist University (October 17), the University of Missouri-St. Louis (October 29), and Lindenwood University (October 31) to close out the fall regular season.
The GLVC Tournament kicks off November 7 with the semifinals and championship matches slated for November 12 and 14.
USI returns Academic All-Americans Justin Faas, a four-year senior starter in goal who ranks third all-time at USI in shutouts, and Colten Walsh, a junior defender who had 10 points on four goals and two assists during last spring’s conference only schedule. The Eagles also return sophomore forward Zach Barton, who led USI in the spring with 19 points on nine goals, including five game-winners, and one assist.
