BOILERMAKERS ADD HELMET STICKER IN REMEMBRANCE OF DOUG BOERSMA, WHO PASSED AWAY SUDDENLY IN JUNE
WEST LAFAYETTE – Purdue Football will honor a Boilermaker who meant a tremendous amount to the athletics department’s many student-athletes, coaches and colleagues during his time on staff.
Throughout the 2023 season, the Boilermakers’ helmets will include a special sticker in remembrance of senior associate athletics director for performance and sports medicine Doug Boersma, who passed away in June at the age of 48.
Boersma, a 1997 graduate of Purdue University who returned to his alma mater in 2012, led Purdue’s sports medicine staff and worked closely with the football program throughout his tenure. The sticker shows a silhouette of a fishing Boersma, as he was an avid outdoorsman in his spare time away from his tireless work for the department.
