• Indiana University opens the Big Ten home slate of its 124th season of competition in men’s basketball with a Friday feature against Maryland. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on Dec. 1 at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on BTN.

• The Terrapins enter the contest with a 4-3 record including three-straight wins against UMBC (92-68), South Alabama (68-55), and Rider (103-76).
• Senior forward Jordan Geronimo played his first three collegiate seasons with the Hoosiers and averaged 3,8 points and 2.7 rebounds per contest across 82 games. He is averaging 7.1 points and 4.1 over his first seven games with the Terps and has made five starts.

Series History
• The Hoosiers have won four of the last five matchups in the series and hold a 12-9 advantage overall. The two programs split last season with Maryland taking the lone regular season matchup by a score of 66-55 in College Park.
• Indiana, behind 24 points, nine rebounds, seven assists, and four blocks from forward Trayce Jackson-Davis, bounced back to take down Maryland by a final tally of 70-60 in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament in Chicago.
• The two sides met in the 2002 NCAA Championship game, a matchup that Maryland won by a score of 64-52 behind 18 points and five steals from tournament Most Outstanding Player Juan Dixon.

• Indiana topped Harvard, 89-76, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Nov. 26. The starting frontcourt of sophomore forward Malik Reneau (17 points), freshman forward Mackenzie Mgbako (18), and sophomore center Kel’el Ware (28) combined for 63 points on 27-of-40 shooting from the floor.
• The victory gave the Hoosiers 85 while playing in Indianapolis. IU has earned a win in the Circle City in seven-straight seasons.
• Indiana scored 50 points in the paint, shot 57.1% from the floor, and dished out 20 assists on 36 made field goals.
B1G Home Openers
• Indiana head coach Mike Woodson is 2-0 during his tenure in Big Ten Conference home openers. The Hoosiers defeated Nebraska in both 2021 (68-55) and 2022 (81-65) to open the 10-game home league slate.
• The Dec. 1 tipoff marks the earliest in calendar the Hoosiers have opened Big Ten play since defeating Northwestern (68-66) on Dec. 1, 2018. IU has never played a league game in the month of November.
Big Man Transformation
• Sophomore center Kel’el Ware, a transfer from Oregon, has upped his scoring (from 6.6 points to 17.7), rebounds (4.1 to 8.8), assists (0.5 to 2.0), blocks (1.3 to 1.7), and field goal percentage (45.7% to 63.9%) in his second season. He leads the Hoosiers in points per game, rebounds, and blocks (1.7) in 32 minutes per game.
• Ware has scored at least 10 points in all six games this season after producing just eight such games as a rookie.
• Ware tallied a career-high 28 points on 12-of-13 shooting from the floor in an 89-76 win over Harvard (Nov. 26) in Indianapolis. The 92.3% shooting split marked the highest by a Hoosier with at least 10 made field goals this century.
• The North Little Rock, Ark., native posted his first career double-double (13p, 12r) in his Indiana debut against Florida Gulf Coast (Nov. 7). His second-career double-double came against Wright State (Nov. 16) with 22 points and 12 boards.
Sophomore Jump for Reneau
• Sophomore forward Malik Reneau has posted double digits in the scoring column in all six games this season, including five efforts of at least 14 points. He notched a career-high 18 points against No. 5/4 UConn (Nov. 19).
• The Miami, Fla., native scored in double figures in seven games during his freshman campaign, while hitting 14 points or more just twice.
• Reneau is averaging 15.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, a team-high 3.3 assists, and 1.2 blocks in 28 minutes per game.
Paint Production
• Indiana averages 39.3 points per game in the paint and shoots 60.2% (139-of-231) from inside the arc. The Hoosiers hold opponents to 25.0 points per night in the key.
• IU scored a season-best 56 points in the paint against Wright State (Nov. 16). The Hoosiers also tallied 50 paint points against Harvard (Nov. 26).
