Tim Newton will call his 995th career game for the Boilermakers. Due to the Purdue Volleyball team in the NCAA Tournament, Newton’s radio call will only be heard on Purdue Stretch Internet.

The Boilermakers rolled to a 95-57 win over Southern Indiana in Mackey Arena to improve to 3-0 at home this season. The Boilermakers put four players in double figures led by Abbey Ellis’ game-high 19 points. Freshmen Mary Ashley Stevenson and Rashunda Jones led the way for the rookies with 12 and 16 points, respectively. The freshman class finished with a season-high 38 points, 15 rebounds, six assists and four steals.

• The Purdue women’s basketball team rolls into Dayton on Friday night for their second true road game of the season.
• Late in the game against Southern Indiana, the Boilermakers put all five active true freshmen on the court together. It marked the first time Purdue had five true freshmen on the floor since Nov. 26, 2004, at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
• Purdue’s freshman class is averaging 21.6 points per game which ranks second in the Big Ten behind Nebraska at 22 points.
• Rashunda Jones and Mary Ashley Stevenson have made instant impacts as with 9.7 and 8.7 points per game, respectively. The duo ranks fourth and fifth among Big Ten rookies in scoring.
• Abbey Ellis has finished in double figures in every game this season. Her 14.7 points per game ranks 16th in the Big Ten. Ellis has scored 10 or more points in 42 games, the most by any Boilermaker during that stretch. She is 10 games shy of Purdue’s top-30 chart of career double figure games.
• Jeanae Terry notched her third game of the year with more than five points, rebounds and assists, good for seventh nationally. Since 2021-22, Terry has 32 games over five points, rebounds and assists, second nationally to Iowa’s Caitlin Clark.
• Madison Layden has made a team-high 13 3-pointers. The Kokomo, Ind., native hit a quartet of triples in three games this year. Layden ranks fourth in the Big Ten in 3-point percentage at a 48.1% clip.
• Purdue jumped out to a fast start with 35 points in the first quarter. It set Purdue’s record for most points in a first quarter and the second highest quarter overall total in program history.
• The Boilermakers are 20-2 under head coach Katie Gearlds when holding an opponent to 60 points or fewer, which includes four of their last five games.
• As a team, Purdue leads the Big Ten and ranks 10th nationally with an 81.4% mark at the free throw line. After ranking third in the country last year, Abbey Ellis is 29th this year with a 91.7% free throw mark.
