WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue (22-17, 5-8 Big Ten) took the win over IU Indy (16-24, 10-8 Horizon League) 3-0 on Tuesday.
Julia Gossett made headlines in the circle, pitching a career-high 14 strikeouts, tying her for the fifth-highest in na single-game in school history. The Boilermakers were strong offensively, registering seven hits and five walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Gossett came ready to play, striking out the first two batters of the game. When Purdue went to bat in the first inning, three batters made it on base, but none came around to score. The second frame brought two more strikeouts from Gossett, and the Boilermakers used that momentum at the plate to tally three hits and one run, giving them the lead off of a bunt single from Ashlynn Campbell.
After a set of outs at the top of the third, Purdue extended the lead with two more runs off two hits by Delaney Reefe and Gossett. The Jaguars had a few hits in the fourth frame, but the Boilers stopped the damage and came back swinging in the box with two more hits from Campbell and Reefe.

The fifth inning had no hits from either team, with three-up, three-down outs. Campbell and Moriah Polar made it on base in the sixth frame, but the Boilers went scoreless. Gossett wrapped up the game quickly in the top of the seventh inning with her career-high 14th strikeout, giving Purdue the win 3-0.
